Meet Dr. James B. Wisner, DMD

Dr. James B. Wisner

Born and raised in Charleston, Dr. Wisner brings over 20 years of dental experience and a heartfelt commitment to patient care. His own experiences as a young adult inspired his mission to create a practice where patients feel calm, informed, and empowered throughout their dental journey.

Dr. Wisner understands the challenges many face when seeking dental care, whether due to cost, past experiences, or uncertainty. He believes that with compassion, clear communication, and the support of a skilled team, every patient can feel confident and comfortable in the dental chair.

Outside the office, Dr. Wisner enjoys spending time with his family, cooking, grilling, boating, and diving into all things automotive as a true car aficionado. A proud Charleston native, he’s also a loyal Gamecock fan through and through.

Dental Assistant

Ivy has been a dental assistant for five years, joining the West Ashley Dental Center team in the spring of 2025. A native of Rock Hill, South Carolina, she pursued her degree in dental hygiene at Trident Technical College after previously attending UNC Charlotte, where she graduated in Health Systems Management in 2019. She is also OSHA and ACLS certified.

Ivy is grateful for the chance to help patients with dental phobia feel safe and secure-something she is very good at. In her free time, she loves to travel, read, and explore Charleston’s beaches. Want to talk about crochet? Ask Ivy to show you some of her projects! She has three younger sisters and lives in Goose Creek with her boyfriend and two pets, a pitbull named Kane and an orange tabby named Miss Lemon.

Registered Dental Hygienist

Mickala hails from Columbiana, Ohio, and joined us as a Registered Dental Hygienist in November 2024. Her dental hygiene degree is from Stark State College, but she also holds an Associate’s Degree in Dental Assisting from East Ohio College. And hey, why stop there? She’s certified in BLS/CPR and Gerontology, too!

Mickala loves the warm, welcoming atmosphere of the office, which she says feels more like a home than a clinic. She loves turning strangers into friends and helping patients feel seen and comfortable. Mickala moved to Charleston to be near one of her two sisters, and loves exploring the city. She’s also a fan of baking, volunteering, and cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes and the New York Giants.

North Carolina born and bred, Jennifer has been an incredible part of our team since September 2024. With over two decades of experience in the dental field, she brings a wealth of knowledge and compassion to our front office. She’s a proud veteran of the US Army and a former accounting student at Trident Technical Community College.

Jennifer’s favorite part of the job is helping people love their smile, which aligns perfectly with our mission of building trust and creating confident smiles. When she’s not at the office, she’s big on surfing and painting furniture (unfortunately, not at the same time!). She is a dedicated mother of two children, Taylor and Landon, and says that seeing them do well is the greatest gift on earth.
